Description
-
In this abstract interpretation of the earlier “Bellini” carpet design, the octagon motif has become a pointed arch that appears twice. A large medallion surrounded by triangles occupies the center. As in many central Anatolian prayer rugs, the background of the central field is a deep red. The border, also characteristic of this tradition, displays a yellow stylized scroll with abstract floral motifs in pink, blue, and white on a black background.
