Description
-
Pinwheel-like in appearance, the design of this dish is based on stylized lotus blossoms and vines, set against a red ground. The motifs in the center and on the cavetto and rim of the dish all ultimately derive from Chinese sources, though this arrangement and color scheme are completely different from what one would find in Yuan and Ming porcelains.
