Description
-
Much of our knowledge of jewelry fashions is derived from contemporary portraits. Although chains of solid gold were especially prized, an enameled example very much like this one, worn diagonally across the chest, appears in the portrait of a young man dating from the early seventeenth century. The enameling technique is similar to that of the brass veneras also in this case.
