Description
-
This dense and richly gilded variant of the Japanese Imari style was very popular in central Europe during the eighteenth century. The inventory mark on the underside indicates that this example was in the collection of Augustus II (1670–1733), elector of Saxony and king of Poland, and one of the most avid European collectors of East Asian porcelain in the eighteenth century.
