Description
-
The 1847 kumgan that displays a painterly fluffy rosette, framed within a garland, and that has between spout and rim a notewrthy figurine, which, of all the personages in the sculptured group, clinchingly conveys the ambience of the 1830s thanks to the masterfully captured posture and entire silhouette. This is the representation of a townswoman, evidenced not only by the hair-do and the garments worn but also by the fact that she is amusing herself by playing a guitar. Peasant arts and handicrafts of thr 19th century had a predilection for borrowing subject material from the urban environment with which craftsmen came into contact at fairs and markets or during their travels.
