Description
-
This unusual piece is adorned with trios of spiny lappets that encircle a central blossom and a series of simplified lotus panels; the overall design suggests a turning wheel. The combination of colors, especially the liberal use of bright green, is typical of many late sixteenth-century Iznik designs, both abstract and figural.
