Description
-
Some Gzhel wares of the time manifest a combination of new and superseded trends. An apt instance is affored by tea-service from the the Terekhovs-Kiselyov factory/ While its forms, its relief elements, and its naturalistic painted decoration with its rocaille scrollwork and diapering distincly indicate the date of its manufacture, namely the 1840s, on the other hand, the teapot spout in the form of a griffin and the tall handle of the creamer reveal a nostalgic longing for the Empire style.
