Details of semifaience kumgans are dynamic. The base is different with te disk-shaped body resting on a round or scalloped base. The neck is bisectional, but in place of the cylindrical upper part, we have a round, vase-shaped pot, which is partly compressed and which is enclosed in a relief ornamentation in the form of flowers and drapery or various knob-like arrangements. However, gradually the spout and handle were straightened out and became more ordinary. As for the body, in principle, it retained the shape of the disk, however, not as sharply delineated as before. The painted decoration was designed to stress the general shape of the kumgan and to accentuate the more interesting elements. As a rule, decor is purely ornamental in character, with garlands of flower and springs trailed over body and rim. On some specimens one discerns ten and more diverse ornaments, which are invariably executed in a blue pigment.
