Description
-
The dial of a clock with hands and Roman numerals, and above this in a kind of cartouche the Russian letters “FDK” – most likely the initials of the factory owner. Stylized springs enclose the clock dial from below. Nonetheless, all eleven types of décor harmonize, amazing the viewer by their combination of fact and fancy, and most forcefully conveying the mood with which the craftsman sat down to model and paint this object upwards of 130 years ago.
